About The Chocolate Moose
Lara is a pastry chef who has been in the industry since 1992; studied at the Cape Sun Intercontinental Hotel in Cape Town, South Africa, where she qualified as a chef and then specialised in pastry. She was selected as the pastry chef to represent South Africa in a Food Promotion held in Bangkok, Thailand. She has worked at the Mount Nelson Hotel as assistant pastry chef preparing the cakes for their much enjoyed High Tea, extravagant functions and weddings. Over the years, she has worked with top pastry chefs and helped in the laying out and setting up of new kitchens in restaurants. She then set up her own business supplying the restaurant and hotel industry with ready made desserts, cakes and chocolates.
Now the company specialises in extravagant cakes and focuses mainly on children’s party cakes, speciality cakes and wedding cakes. Having two children changed her career path from classical to fun and modern, the children keep her up to date with what’s hot and new on the market. She has a keen eye for detail and precision, which makes each cake design very realistic.
Any shape, size or design is possible within the limits of gravity and physics; we are always up for a challenge. Our cakes are 1, 2, or 3 dimensionally designed and applied to a standard cake shape or individually sculpted. This makes every cake a bespoke cake.
